Three of the hottest smartphones of the year are now officially revealed at Computex 2016 in Taiwan on Monday. The Asus Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Deluxe and Zenfone 3 Ultra were finally and formally unveiled by the Taiwanese electronics giant Asus. And based on the current reviews and initial impressions available online, a lot of tech enthusiasts around the world are impressed and happy about these three devices' design and performance.
So three smartphones were announced by Asus at the recent Computex 2016 event earlier this week, all sharing the same set of specs and features with slight variations on other aspects targeting different type of users and digital consumers. In this post, I will try to enumerate all the specs these three have in common as well as their individual unique technical specifications.
In proper order, the Zenfone 3 Deluxe is the flagship device, it's like the Alpha of the pack, followed by the Zenfone 3 Ultra and then the Zenfone 3 being the midrange device, but do not let that category fool you in this case. Midrange may sound like weakling, but definitely not the Zenfone 3.
First off with this Zenfone 3, the color variant you see in the image below is Sapphire Black and this is what I like the most. It just looks more elegant and premium in this color, it adds more beauty to the new design language of this series of devices from Asus, not to mention the Zenfone 3 is front and back protected by a contoured 2.5D Gorilla Glass. It sports full metal frame, no visible antenna lines, and a nice-loooking concentric circle lines texture on the back plate, just a stunning phone to look at.

- Supports microSD card up to 128GB
- 16MP rear camera with 6-Element Largan lens, Laser Autofocus and PixelMaster

- 4 Stop OIS (Optical Image Stabilization)- 4K video recording
- Phase Detection Autofocus
- WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS
- USB Type-C port
- LTE
-2,600mAh and 3,000mAh
Next in line is the massive and gorgeous Zenfone 3 Ultra sporting a huge 6.8-inch Full HD IPS display. Asus markets this device as a smartphone and not a tablet or phablet, as you can still use this as a reguar phone like for making calls and doing text messaging over cellular network. Like the Zenfone 3, this Ultra variant also sports an aluminum unibody design with 79% screen-to-body ratio, more than perfect for consuming online and digital stuff like watch YouTube videos and movies of your choice, and playing your favorite mobile games. It's screen is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4, so worrying about having it scratched or broken is not going to be an issue at all.
Like other Zenfone 3 devices, the Zenfione 3 Ultra is packed with much improved audio specs such as a dual Asus SonicMaster 3.0 for its Audio with 5 magnet speakers for up to 80% better performance, DTS-headphone: X with 7.1 surround and and NXP Smart Amp. Camera department is not a turnoff in here as it comes boasting a 23MP rear camera all sporting PixelMaster 3 technology can offer together with optical image stabilization making your videos and photos less blurry. You want to record 4K videos? Zenfone 3 Ultra got you covered.
Of the three, this Zenfone 3 Ultra has the biggest battery capacity coming in at 4,600mAh. It is so big that should be able to last you for more than a day, even in heavy usage. And what's unique to this one is it can also double as a powerbank to other devices, just like the Zenfone Max.

And it's just as stunning as the Zenfone 3, but definitely more attractive both inside and out. On the front panel is the 5.7-inch screen that sports Full HD resolution and instead of IPS like other and previous Zenfone devices, the Zenfone 3 Deluxe has Super AMOLED, yes the same type of display tech found on high end Samsung Galaxy smartphones. It has an extremely thin bezel which makes the device to sport 79% screen-to-body ratio, giving us more space to fully enjoy ist display. I am kind of excited how this looks in real life on an Asus-made flagship smartphone.
When the first Asus Zenfone 2 was unveiled last year, it was the first cellphone in the whole world to pack a massive 4GB RAM for a super fast and lag-free navigation experience. This year, Asus is stepping it up even higher with this Zenfone 3 Deluxe, with a much bigger 6GB RAM. I don't know how that's going to complement its also-a-highend Snapdragon 820 powerhouse, but I am pretty sure this is going to be a monster of a device unlike any other. An achievement that its competitors have to beat with their current and upcoming devices.
According to the international website of Asus, this device will be offered in three storage sizes, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB variants. I am not sure if all of these configurations will be brough here in the Philippines, but since they also offered a 256GB version of Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe Special Edition locally last year, I am thinking this will also be the case here.

There are definitely so much to like about these three Zenfone 3 smartphones, from specs and features that they come with, to designs they come in, and most of all down to the price they will be offered for, Asus is very popular on doing that, offering powerful devices for pocket-friendly and very competitive price tags. In a few weeks, we will know these phones' official SRPs in the Philippines so stay tuned.
